London’s Best Brunches

TTF Features - London’s Best Brunches

If Sunday Roasts are the Grandaddy of meals, Brunch is the super-cool uncle with a slight drinking problem and who always comes baring gifts. And as it stands, brunch is a trend that really is catching fire. But where to go? London is blessed with a variety of restaurants that is second to none, and with it, brunches that come in all different shapes and sizes. We've put together a list of our favourite places for brunch by category - Bottomless, Meat-Eaters, Special Occasions, Something a Little Different and Healthy Options. Here's TTF's List of London's Best Brunches - enjoy!!

"Please sir, can I have some more?"  Our favourite brunches where the food or booze doesn't stop coming.

Flesh & Buns

For £39 or £46 (depending on the menu choice) guests are treated to a Cocktail on arrival; Chips, dips and edamame; Unlimited hot and cold dishes; Signature Flesh & Buns; Unlimited Prosecco, red or white wine; and Dessert for the table. One of London's most popular brunches is definitely the most fun of them all. For £38 from 11.30 - 1pm or £48 thereafter, guests receive a special brunch only pizza, unlimited prosecco, charcuterie, fresh fruit and croissants. On top of all of that, there's drag-queen led karaoke and the usual Bunga Bunga debauchery.

Bourne & Hollingsworth Buildings

Delivering classic brunch menu items, alongside some interesting contemporary dishes, guests can enjoy bottomless cocktails, bloody mary's and belinis. A gorgeous restaurant and the perfect spot to cosy up in front of an open fire and booze the day away. B&H Buildings is great for brunch in it's own right but with an addition of just £15 or £16 (for the blody mary's or belinis respectively), it's a must visit for brunch.

Bottomless Brunches aren't something you usually associate with elegant mayfair restaurants but Avenue flips the script. Throw in another £15 per person for bottomless Prosecco or Bloody Marys.

Aqua Kyoto

Aqua's 'Infinity Sundays' knock it up a knotch with one of the most attractive looking brunches on the list. Boasting stunning views of London, guests can enjoy fantastic Japanese cuisine, washed down with Veuve Cliquot Yellow Label (one of the only brunches that offer unlimited premium champagne). Though on the pricier side, at £55, the views and champers definitely make up for it.

A salute to long lazy Sundays from Italy, Pranzo at Union Street Cafe is a great way to drink the afternoon away. Guests can choose between 2, 3 or 4 courses (£19, £25 and £29 respectively). For and addtional £10 you can inject Free Flowing Prosecco to the afternoon. The booze stops when the food does so we suggest going for four courses..

Because somtimes it's all about the meat! Here are our favourite meat-eateries for a spot of brunch

And now for something a little special - for those who laugh in the face of food comas, tweak the nipples of 'not having enough room for more', and are mad about meat - there is no bteer place than Hotbox. Since opening its doors, Hotbox has been one of the most talked about and highly regarded restaurants in London and fans of this super-spot lost their minds when they added brunch to their menu in Januray 2015. Serving large doses of virtually every variation of breakfast and brunch, you can also have some house classics - beef and pork ribs, fried chicken and waffles, and unlimited Prosecco for an extra £25. Every box is ticked at Hotbox.

Duke's Brew & Que

Much of Duke's Brew & Que's style and vibe is homage to American Style diners - this is no different with the weekend brunch. The 'Duke's Breakfast' is loaded with the usual brunch suspects - Two eggs, two strips of crispy streaky bacon, cumberland sausage, diced home-fried potatoes, grilled beef tomatoes, button mushrooms and toasted sourdough / £10.95 and is a local favourite. For egg lovers there are no fewer than 7 egg dishes, including Omellete, Eggs Royale, Eggs Benedict, Steak and Eggs, and Chicken Fried Egg and Steak (dribble). There's something for veggies and also a mouth-watering 10oz burger.

Electric Diner

Up there with one of the coolest London eateries, and likely to feature on virtually every 'London's Top Brunches' List; Electric Diner offers guests a wide range of choices from the works brunch (sausages, eggs, toast, beans, bacon etc) to cereals and everything inbetween. But there are a few dishes that must be tried above all else - Waffles and Strawberry Jam; and the Honey Fried Chicken, Chilli and Seseame Seed. Unsurprisingly Eggs feature heavily on the menu, and with a start time of 8am, is one of the earliest restaureants to kick off brunch on the list.

Electric Diner, 191 Portobello Road, London, W11 2ED | 020 7908 9696 | Available Every Weekend 8am - 1pm | Menu Here

The Breakfast Club

Any place with the word 'breakfast' in the title should take this time of day seriously, and 'The Breakfast Club' doesn't disappoint. In terms of menu options, The Breakfast Club is the outright winner with dozens of options - pancakes, fruit and oats, sandwiches, full monty, vegetarian options, burritos. all the eggs, and of course - bacon butties. And given how seriously breakfast dishes are taken, it also can't be a shock that the brunch menu is availble every day! There are seven locations across London - Angel, Battersea Rise, Hoxton, London Bridge, On the Road, Soho, Spitalfields, So there really is no excuse for missing out.

Well... If you go to Foxlow for brunch, you can buy the above (Pictured) - All Day Breakfast Burger - a work of meaty art - Bacon, tomato, a charcoal grilled sausage patty, fried egg, mushroom and cheese. If that doesn't convince you, the heavenly Foxlow fried chicken on a buttermilk waffle with bacon, egg and plenty of chunky sausage gravy should. Foxlow is one of London's premier meat-eateries (from the owners of Hawksmoor - Will Beckett and Huw Gott) and this title is firmly maintained at brunch-time.

Hawksmoor Guildhall

It wouldn't be a very credible meat section without Hawksmoor's presence. Hawksmoor Guildhall is the only member of the steakhouse family that has a breakfast menu and the portions would suggest they've certainly made up for it. The full English (above) could feed the 5,000 and the plum doughnuts are gut-bustingly good. There are healthy and smaller options (as if), as well as all the coffee and fresh juice you can manage.

New Street Grill

The very British brunch menu is all about classic dishes made with fantastic produce. Kicking off with freshly baked Chelsea buns and the signature brunch toasties, dishes include Kedgeree Scotch eggs, Dripping fried bread with bacon and eggs and London cure smoked salmon and scrambled eggs on rye. The full steak selection will also be available, grilled on the Josper and served with fried eggs, as well as a Sunday roast option with all the trimmings. Enjoy 2 courses for £20 or 3 courses for £25, with unlimited Prosecco for an additional £15 per person.

Because it's not always about bacon and eggs. Here are some of our favourite places where you can get something a little different.

Roka's Han Setto Brunch menu launched in July 2015 and TTF owner, Lateef, went to check it out. Verdict? Possibly the best brunch experience ever! Guests are treated to a hurricane of fantasic Roka treats. You kick things off with a starter selection consisting of ten dishes (yes... TEN!!), before choosing a dish from the Robata Grill. You cap things off with a dessert dish that could be as well at home at an art gallery - such is the beauty of the presentation. £39 for a bellini on arrival; £55 for wine throughout.

An all-time TTF Favourite, Dishoom, delivers a brunch doesn't disappoint. We love this place because it seems to have it all - restaurant bar, late openings, afternoon tea, great cocktails, unbelievable food, a beautiful verandah, open everyday... well you get the point. A must try for the discerning eater - Dishoom seems to be appearing on many London lists with the word 'best' in the title. Order the bacon roll (warm naan, chilli jam and cream cheese) and thank us later.

Mr Buckley's

A hidden gem in its truest sense of the term - Mr. Buckleys is worshiped by people who have been. The food is superb and innovative. and the cosy and intimate vibe is a great setting for an afternoon brunch. If that isn't enough, there is the signature 'Bloody Madison' - Bacon infused bourbon, tomato & chipotle Spices (that's right). We highly recomend the Minute steak with poached eggs, spinach & bearnaise on toasted sour dough. There's also cheeseboards, toast (bread baked in house), fresh fruit, coffee (free refills), homemade preserves and great desserts.

If it's an atmosphere you're after Caravan pretty much has no equal during brunch time. The venue comes alive for the whole afternoon as locals and Londoners alike swarm swarm this all-day diner for some of their famous worl-fusion inspired cuisine. There's a super outdoor seating area and a cocktail list that will turn your afternoon into a wobbly early evening. Try the grilled coconut bread, strawberries and lemon curd cream cheese; field mushrooms on toast; and a bacon and oyster omelette known as the ‘Hangtown Fry’.

Jackson + Rye

Another American themed restaurant, and therefore, unsurprisingly, another place that takes brunch very seriously. Jackson + Rye models itself on New York style all-day brunch eateries and the menu, style and vibe perfectly reflect this. All bases are covered to cater for varying levels of hunger - the huge menu is divided into sections such as appetizers, eggs, steak and grills, sandwiches, butter milk pancakes, snacks, cocktails and desserts. The Toasted Ruben Sandwich - slow cooked salt beef, Swiss cheese & sauerkraut, in a caraway bloomer, and horseradish sauce & fries; and the Crab Cakes red swimmer crab with chilli, radish slaw & chipotle sauce are highly recomnded.

Another TTF Favourite - Parlour takes tradional British cuisine and injects some nuclear-powered-awesome!! They smoke their own food and have a garden that is extremely hard to top, anywhere in London. We would recommend everything on the menu but it's massive so here are a couple of our faves - McTucky’s Popcorn Chicken Nuggets; Back Door’ Smoked Salmon; and the Raw Vegetable ‘Ravioli’ with Goats’ Cheese.

Because you don't always have to go out for dinner to celebrate. Here are some great places when the occasion is something a little special.

Dean Street Townhouse

Another one that features on many of our lists - Dean Street Townhouse is perfect for any conceivable occasion - special occasions are no different. You can come here for entertaining, date nights, treating visiting parents, and basically any event that requires you to impress. The service is super, the decor is elegant yet cosy and the alfresco dining is the perfect spot for summer brunching.

Duck & Waffle

You can be excused for coming to Duck & Waffle with the sole purpose of taking in the views. And many do but that doesn't take anything away from the brilliant grub on offer. Full English (pictured) is a must have, as well as the signature dish - Duck and Waffle.

Hakkasan Hanway

One of London's best and most recognisable restaurants has, arguably, one of London's best brunch offers. For £58 guests are treated to a 6-course tasting menu, two cocktails and half a bottle of champagne (making a full bottle if two guests are brunching). For those lucky enough to have eaten at resturants of this nature will be aware that if you were to buy this menu A La Carte, it's soup and water until pay-day - £58 is a criminally good offer. Djs play from 2 - 6 and the food will certainly blow you away. Defintely a bucket-list brunch (and one of the best meals i've ever had).

No.11 Pimlico Road

One of the cosiest restaurants you're likely to find for any occasion, nothing changes for the brunch. Full English Breakfast wins here but there are also some great  brunch items such as the Eggs Benedict, Bacon Sanwiches and Blueberry Pancakes with Whipped crème fraîche and maple syrup. Family friendly and great for groups, all are welcome at No.11 Pimlico Road.

Chiltern Firehouse

Quite possibly one of the most difficult restaurants to secure a reservation.. well for dinner, anyway. Booking for brunch in advance is a far more sure-fire way to experience the restaurant everyone seems to be talking about. So seriously impress your other half, friend or family with a brunch booking here. Breakfast is available throughout the week and with summer fast approaching, the alfresco dining on offer will be a huge hit!

Because sometimes brunch isn't all about eating all the pie. Here are some great places where healthy, fresh and nutritious food takes centre stage.

Granger & Co

From the ever-growing empire of Bill Granger, Granger & Co uses influences from around the world; predominanly Japan, Australia and Hawaii (where they have other branches) to deliver fresh and innovative cuisine. For brunch, they offer what has been widely-considered the best scrambled eggs in the world (top-right photo). Granger & Co is hugely popular throughout the week, but particularly at brunch so get booking!!

The Modern Pantry

There isn't another restaurant on our list where the words 'fresh' or 'fruit' are used quite as much as at the Modern Pantry. 'Healthy Eating' and 'The Modern Pantry' are synonmous and their brunch menu reflects this. Stand-out dishes include Pain au chocolat (£2); The Modern Pantry fruit salad, lime & rose syrup (£6.50); and the Passionfruit, orange, banana & honey smoothie (£4.50).

The Riding House Cafe

The Riding House Cafe features in many of our 'best of' lists and it's not surprising. Virtually everything on offer is brilliant here. It has a super atmosphere, it's in a great location, you can have panckes, fruit, cereal, burgers and Full English. There's also a kids' menu, juices, wine and cocktails. The Swiss Army Knife of weekend brunches.
