Yauatcha is a contemporary dim sum teahouse that opened in London in 2004. The restaurant offers an all-day grazing experience, specialising in modern authentic dim sum, as well as wok-friendly dishes and other ‘small eats’.An exceptional range of Chinese and Indian teas are also retailed at Yauatcha, along with handmade macaroons and chocolates.Yauatcha is a modern reinterpretation of the old Chinese teahouse. Designed by Christian Liaigre, the restaurant’s open-plan layout and visible kitchen energizes the entire space, engaging both the outside street scene and Yauatcha’s customers.Yauatcha received a Michelin star within a year of its opening.
A younger sibling of Hakkassan, it’s all about the ‘little-eats’ and dim sum at this sleek little Soho spot. There’s a great range of steamed and crispy morsels to choose from in the beautifully designed open-plan downstairs restaurant area coated in neon and glazed panels. Gaze at the tropical fish swimming around in a tank that makes up part of the bar as you absorb the glowing vibe and sip on a long glass of their special iced tea. Make sure you book in advance and maybe grab your wallet as this is at the pricey end but you won’t be disappointed. If you fancy something a little sweeter, macarons and a whole menu of teas are on offer in the upstairs tearoom.
