Stax Diner is American food at its finest. Stax is the realisation of the long-held ambition of acclaimed chef and Virginia-born Bea Vo (of London’s celebrated cake shop and tearoom Bea’s of Bloomsbury and the renowned Maltby Street Diner) to bring the best of the American Deep South to London.
Stax and its menu were born out of a collage of Bea’s happy childhood memories of great road trips through the American South, taking rest stops at rustic lean-to shacks playing crackly old soul and blues records, the air ripe with the mouthwatering aromas of loosely packed, freshly ground burgers sizzling on the grill and hot, succulent and crispy deep fried chicken fresh from the kitchen, each accompanied by long held secret family recipes for home-made zingy sauces, signature sides and good ol’ boy bar specials.
At Stax you will find such inspirations as the Cajun Onion Blossom, Comeback Sauce, Fried Green Tomatoes and the amazing Popcorn Shrimp Po’ Boy, along with the famed Diner Classics such as Stax Wild Blueberry Pancakes and Brioche French Toast with Roasted Strawberries.
Part of the hugely popular Kingly Court family of restaurants, Stax Diner takes you cross Atlantic with this Southern American burger joint. Open all week, Stax Diner serves a great selection of gourmet burgers, all of which are nicely tucked beneath the £10 barrier (very rare in London these days) as well American-Deep-South favourite - Chicken and Waffles. There are some additional diner regulars as well as some tasty new-comers; we're talking Sundaes, Banana Splits, 'Po Boys and Fudge Brownie Doughnuts (that's right.... Fudge Brownie, mother-fudging Doughnuts). Stax Diner brings a new edge, not just to Kingly Court but the London burger scene in general.
