You might wonder why we are called Smack? Far from trying to be provocative, Smacks are in fact the name of the boats which catch lobster (you can see a drawing of one on in the header of this website). We’re pretty passionate about our lobster. Since setting up Burger & Lobster in 2011 we have made it our mission to eradicate the illusion that Lobster is a rare and only for the rich and famous or to be eaten at fancy restaurant joints. We’ve learnt a lot quickly and have continued to grow our expertise from there. We work with a select group of fishermen over in the beautiful surroundings of Nova Scotia for the majority of the year, and when out of season we head over to Maine where Lobster fishing takes place all year long. All of our Lobster is wild, never farmed and we work hard alongside the Canadian government to ensure we abide by all sustainability laws, actively encouraging it’s progress. Our lobster is kept live in prime conditions in a 6,000 square foot tank at Heathrow airport, where it is then delivered fresh to each of our restaurants on a daily basis. Far from being a once in a lifetime occasion ,we believe our juicy lobster is something that can be enjoyed by all, all the time. It’s meaty flavour lends itself perfectly to our own buttery brioche bun recipe, and it’s health benefits make it the perfect component when putting together our fresh lobster salads.
The Goodman Restaurant Group (GRG) made their mark in London with Goodman, Burger and Lobster, and Beast. Smack Lobster, as the name suggests, focuses on Lobster but true to GRG’s form, Smack Lobster serves up classic food but in a unique and signature way. The focus here is Lobster Rolls, in Mayfair, and fine dining but with a fast-food vibe. The menu is short but features variations of Lobster rolls from across the planet – Happy Ending with Japanese Mayo, California With Lettuce, and Seven Samurai Tempura Lobster. All of the dishes are under £10, making Smack Lobster one of GRG’s most affordable restaurants to date.
