Tokimeitē brings contemporary Japanese dining to the heart of London’s Mayfair luxury retail quarter, featuring a modern interpretation of the classic authentic flavours of wa-shoku cuisine by sourcing the finest produce, including the award-winning Japanese wagyu beef. Created through a collaboration between world-renowned Michelin-starred Kyoto chef Yoshihiro Murata and acclaimed designer Yasumichi Morita, Tokimeitē is set over three levels, with each space characterised by a unique design aesthetic inspired by the traditions of Japanese crafts and festivals. Tokimeitē’s elegant yet informal environment invites guests to dine according to their mood or occasion, from a casual get-together with friends over drinks and sharing plates, to a private dinner with specially selected course dishes. An extensive range of premium sake, shochu and whiskies is also offered to complement the cuisine.
Tokimeitē comprises three dining spaces, each featuring a distinctive design motif that imbues the interior with its own unique ambience:
En – flame
Warmth permeates the main ground floor dining space, emanating from the open kitchen with a robata grill and Josper charcoal oven taking pride of place. Cosy banquette booths and comfy counter seating create an ideal atmosphere for casual gatherings in convivial surroundings.
Mizu – water
Surrounded by silvery glistening and jewel-like accents, light shimmering through rippled handmade glass infuses a cool watery calm into this upper floor dining room. With a wine and sake display providing the backdrop, lounge-style seating allows for a relaxed dining experience in an intimate environment.
Moku – wood
Enclosed by intricate timber latticework, the second dining room on the upper floor is enlivened by glistening gold leaf, metalwork and light to create the intimate inner sanctum of Tokimeitē. With an ambience of exclusivity and discretion, this space can also be reserved for private dinners and parties.
London’s obsession with Japanese food stays true to form with this high-end Asian eatery. Top chef Yishihiro Murata holds seven Michelin Stars across three Japanese spots and returns to London for a second time, bringing with him all of his Wagyu Beef and Robata Grill expertise. With a Mayfair location, expect lush design (same people as Aqua) and elegance throughout.
