Combining the decadent black truffle with the highest quality prime cuts of beef from around the world, including a wide range of gourmet burgers, Sackville’s offers a meat-focused menu using the truffle as a fundamental ingredient, ensuring richness and flavour. Expert mixologist Monica Berg (formerly at Jason Atherton’s Pollen Street Social) has overseen the creation of the basement bar, serving stunning signature cocktails and a wide range of spirits.
The menu offers a selection of burgers, steaks and other meat dishes alongside truffle-rich starters and sides created by executive chef Wayne Dixon. Former senior sous chef of Gordon Ramsay’s Maze Grill, Wayne brings years of culinary experience and innovative ideas along with a superior knowledge of meat sourcing and provenance. Wayne sources all of the truffles from Istria in Croatia located on the same latitude as Alba, Italy, which is known for its superior quality of truffles. The menu showcases five gourmet burgers including George’s Black Burger – the very first dish that inspired the concept of the restaurant, combining a Wagyu patty on a dark truffle brioche bun, buttered with foie gras mousse and served with a truffle mayonnaise.
The New York-inspired interior hints at the wild landscape of an Autumn truffle hunt. The two-floor restaurant seats 42 in the ground-floor dining room, which includes 4 seats at the open kitchen, while the downstairs bar and lounge seats 16 with further standing space for drinks. The alluring ground-floor interior focuses on an earthy colour palette of mossy greens, with teal velour banquettes. The downstairs bar and lounge showcases exposed brickwork, and contrasting mustard yellow décor, and is equipped with tan leather banquettes, taking inspiration from its previous tailor occupant, ‘Hicks & Sons’. Downstairs, the lounge serves a selection of truffle-based bar nibbles, where cocktails and food can be combined for a tailor made experience, plus a range of dishes from the main menu.
If you're looking for a basic burger or perfunctory pasta, look elsewhere. The Sackville's menu is exactly what you'd expect from its Mayfair postcode: the eponymous burger comes as a Wagyu patty in a brioche bun with foie gras mousse and truffle mayo and for the pasta fiends, spaghetti is served with ox tongue, boar shavings and truffle. Have you spotted the theme? Everything here is touched by truffle so the flavours are earthy and rich and to offset this, the decor is all bright and bricks. Grab one of the four counter seats and watch the fun(gi) happen.
