Occupying a prime location on Kentish Town Road, the new Joe’s will offer its trademark succulent fried chicken, belly-filling American dishes and heady cocktails to a hungry North London audience. Spread over two floors and occupying the former site of Kentish Canteen, the new Joe’s site will feature a 90 cover ground floor restaurant complete with outside 30 cover BBQ and dining space, along with a basement bar called JAILBIRD. Accompanying the chicken is Joe’s famous slow cooked ribs and Deep South ‘home cooking’ dishes such as devilled eggs, mac 'n' cheese and cornbread. Brunch will have a big focus at Kentish Town Joe’s and will feature American breakfast favourites that have been given the Joe’s treatment. As always, Joe’s dishes are designed for sharing with friends, getting your fingers dirty and your face sticky – a treat for all the senses.
Downstairs, the aptly named JAILBIRD basement bar makes the most of its previous history as a prison. Alcoves historically inhabited by Victorian criminals as cells have been transformed into cosy drinking booths. The cocktail list will feature creative concoctions alongside original takes on the Southern classic Julep and Sazerac and the spirits offering will boast a huge range of Bourbon & Rye. The beer list features American favourites and craft labels, the perfect accompaniment to the venue’s delicious bar snacks. Playing old fashioned blues, classic country, Northern Soul and rockabilly, JAILBIRD is the place to go to hear best of Southern American music and its influences while sipping on a delicious cocktail.
For those that have been to Joe’s in Covent Garden, the opening of a second site was momentous news. Though there are many elements from the original Central London site, this branch has some signature touches such as the Sweet Tea Brined Fried Chicken (anyone who takes gourmet chicken seriously is a natural winner with us) as well as a few other surprises. Just like it’s older sister, there is an exciting and vibrant cocktail bar, Jailbird, where you can take on some cocktails, bourbon and good times.
