Previously partner and chef of The Mall Tavern in Notting Hill, Jesse Dunford Wood has now left the Perritt and Perritt group and independently owns and runs Parlour (www.parlourkensal.com). His well renowned cooking style is now just a stone’s throw from Kensal Green, and combines traditional pub grub dining with a quirky cosmopolitan edge featuring his nostalgic favourites. As the name suggests, Parlour aims to satisfy everyone’s cravings, whatever the time and whatever their culinary desire. From late night desserts to British classics, there’s an eclectic mix of dishes on offer. Hearty mains such as Jesse’s famous famed Cow Pie keep the traditional pub grub punters happy and a selection of nostalgic dishes such as Chicken Kiev and Arctic Roll give diners a trip down memory lane. Red leather sofas and refectory chairs create a fusion of pub, bar and coffee house. An impressive garden, with cosy pods and artistic landscaping is not to be missed, yet again proving that day or night, whatever the occasion Parlour is a sure fire bet. Whatever the menu holds, Jesse’s extravagant cooking style is always the special, offering entertainment to diners throughout their meal. His theatrical approach to cooking is embodied in the Chef’s Table, located right next to the kitchen it gives eight lucky diners ring side seats to watch Jesse in action throughout their meal. Rising to the occasion, he cooks a variety of dishes and once the diners ring the bell, the dishes move around. This tutorial in taste and hands on approach to cooking ensures his diners have a great night out. Open from 10am until Midnight Daily, the menu at Parlour is an all day affair. Start your morning with DIY toast or the Full Parlour, get involved with the smoked salmon from their very own smokehouse for lunch or enjoy a glass of wine or a pint of ale with Desperate Dan’s famous cow pie come the evening. Jesse’s fun retro style is evident in the menu, décor and overall ambience making Parlour perfect for all occasions.
Parlour, Kensal Rise serves classic British pub grub with a very modern twist. The dishes, that evolves with the season, are packed with British classics that make easy reading on the menu and very pleasing on the plate. The decor and feel is similar in theme to the menu - classically British with modern touches. The restaurant and dining area separate but the style and charm are consistent throughout. The are some great craft and classic beers on tap, cocktails come classically and exclusively, and the wine list (most of which are available by the glass) is affordable and perfectly complements the menu. There is a gorgeous beer garden that is manageable throughout the year - with patio heaters during the chilli months and plenty of sunshine time during our English 'Summer'.
