Highbury & Islington: 6 Minute Walk
Prawn on the Lawn is a fully licensed fishmonger and restaurant situated near to Islington’s buzzing Upper Street. Established in 2013 by Rick Toogood and his fiancee Katie, it began life as a seafood bar and fishmonger but has now been extended to include a 16 seater basement restaurant, serving only the freshest seafood and tapas-style fish dishes. With only an A1 cold-food licence, Prawn on the Lawn serves creative plates including scallop ceviche, seared tuna and our signature Prawn on the Lawn dish, as well as larger platters such as Fruits De Mer, sourced directly from day boats and fish markets in Devon and Cornwall. We make every effort to be as seasonal and sustainable as possible.
One of the best named restaurants in town, Prawn on the Lawn is a firm favourite for fish lovers. An all-in-one fishmonger and restaurant, they do things a little differently here thanks to their cold-food only licence. This means they’ve been creative with their menu and everything is achingly fresh. Sustainably sourced, the menu changes daily so it’s a perfect excuse to go back often and try something different each time. Pick up something from the fish bar after and they’ll even throw in a couple of ideas on how to cook it too. Nice.
