This is the second venture from Andrew and Mary Jane Fishwick, owners of The Truscott Arms – who stormed the London Gastropub Awards 2015 and hold the title for Best Roast in Great Britain. The Truscott Cellar is designed to be a haven of civility in Belsize Park, offering food and drink of unsurpassed quality and range. The space has been designed with Michal Schranz of MS-DA (with whom Andrew and Mary Jane collaborated with on The Truscott Arms) to offer guests an intimate environment in which to savour all that is on offer.
Wine is unashamedly the focus here and the list at The Cellar is second to none. Amongst the well-known names and the all-time greats are winemakers, regions and grapes that just might broaden one’s horizons. With over eighty wines available by the glass or carafe and nearly four hundred different bottles one can experiment and explore and, The Cellar staff are always happy to help out.
Man cannot live on wine alone… so Head Chef Aidan McGee’s food menu at The Cellar has been designed to provide flavours and tastes to compliment the imbibing. Small sharing plates such as Beef Chips and the Meat Board or more substantial dishes such as Beef Cheeks, Smoked Mash, Crispy Shallots; Cornish Cod, Salsify, Greens, Cider Sauce, Mussels or Colcannon, Ragstone, Basil are prepared using the very finest ingredients sourced from the same suppliers as at The Truscott Arms.
The Cellar cocktail list reflects once again the appreciation of artisanal products made with love, as does the range of London brewed bottled craft beers. Open 12pm-12.30am seven days a week, the bar will make the most of being five minutes from Belsize Park tube station, and is sure to quickly become a beloved addition to this lovely area as its very first wine bar. The right place, the right people. delicious food and drink. It’s not complicated really.
After the success of the gastropub The Truscott Arms comes The Truscott Cellar, a wine bar perfect for escaping the inclement weather. There’s a whopping 50 choice of wines by the glass and 300 by the bottle to accompany small plates and sharing dishes, borrowed from the big sister and built upon here. The interior design is pretty slick too but that’s what we’ve come to expect from the award-winning Truscott team.
