Back in March, we gave you a list of London’s best food delivery services and at the top of the list was Cure and Simple. Here, we tell you a little bit more about possibly one of the best ideas ever… #bacontoyourdoor.

 

Cure and Simple is a bacon subscription service, offering good quality pork and unique flavours delivered straight to your door. The company supports independent producers from across the UK and has received high praise for their signature glaze recipes.

 

As I headed home to Suffolk for the weekend (coincidentally where these Dingley Dell pigs are from), I thought I’d test Cure and Simple on a man who knows a thing or two about bacon… my dad.

 

 

There are 6 options to choose from, Original, Thai, Pancetta, Bourbon, Old English and a mixture. I opted for Original and it arrived first thing the next day… good so far. The bacon is traditionally cured and flavoured with their hand blended cure mixture, which is then left for at least a week before air drying.

 

You can tell the pork is good quality as soon as you take it out of the packet with a great shine and very little fat - dad couldn’t wait to get cooking! As the meat is cured for over a week, moisture is extracted so the bacon cooked well in the pan, with the small amount of fat crisping nicely. The meat had a lovely flavour and made me extremely keen to try all 5 others.

 

 

It is a fairly decedent way to buy bacon at £5.95 per delivery, but if you (like my dad) enjoy good quality meat from UK producers, this stuff is definitely worth the price. Plus, you can choose monthly if you don’t want bacon for breakfast every week. All deliveries are delivered through Royal Mail and if you order before 3pm you can have a fresh pack of bacon on your doorstep the next morning (but they don’t deliver on Sunday’s or Monday’s).
